Word Origin

        The word 'zephyr' comes from the Ancient Greek Ζέφυρος (Zéphuros), which referred to Zephyrus, the personification of the west wind in Greek mythology. This west wind was often characterized as a gentle, mild breeze. The Greek word passed into Latin as 'Zephyrus' before being adopted into English.
