Word Origin

        The word 'inane' originates from the Latin word 'inānis', which means "empty, void, idle, or useless."

        A word with a similar origin is 'inanition', which comes from the Latin 'inanitio', derived from 'inanire' (to empty), itself based on 'inānis'. 'Inanition' refers to the state of being exhausted from lack of food or vital resources.
