Our garrulous tour guide somehow turned a five-minute walk into a 40-minute monologue.

Word Origin

The word 'garrulous' originates from the Latin word garrulus, meaning "chattering" or "talkative." This in turn derives from the Latin verb garrire, which means "to chatter" or "to prattle" and is thought to be imitative of sound. The word can be broken down into garrire (to chatter) and the suffix -ulus, which forms adjectives indicating a tendency or inclination.
